Position Summary:

Essential Responsibilities:

  1.  Performs all payroll procedures, processing time records and provide technical support for use of time and attendance system, preparing journal entries, and making on-line salary adjustments as approved by management.

  2.   Manage relationship with payroll provider ADP.  Monitoring necessity of features and implementation of enhancements.

  3.   Reconciles payroll reports with general ledger accounts.

  3.  Processes payments for monthly, quarterly and year-end employee bonuses.  Ensures incentive plan programs are set up in the payroll system.

  4.  Processes Branch and IRA department backup withholdings.

  5.  Process all 401K remittances, including bi-weekly transmission of contributions and loan payments.  Perform proof of ADP deductions and payments to 401K provider.

  6.   Completes quarterly reports and processes payment for PAC, United Way and 529 College Plan.

  7.   Verifies at year-end employee W-2 information and notifies ADP of status; distributes W-2 forms to active employees.

  8.   Work with Senior Managers regarding tax withholdings, 401K safe harbor catch up and special requests.

  9.   At year-end, makes on-line payroll adjustments for third party sick pay, life insurance over 50, and auto taxable fringe calculations.

10.   Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts.

11.  Create and modify wage & hour, Opt Out and various reports based on needs and direction of user.

12.  Act as point of contact for payroll audits with Internal and External audit staff including 401K audit and workers compensation audit.

13. Maintain records for Deferred Compensation Accounts including interest calculation, payroll deductions and necessary tax payments.  Prepare and mail quarterly statements and accumulate data for 1099s.

14.  Prepare all tax return information relating to payroll (945s), monthly sales tax and quarterly use tax payments.

15.   Performs other duties as directed by the Controller and support HR Director on projects/requests.

Job Requirements:

  1.   Position requires strong technical background in accounting-related capacity; ideally payroll background and service-orientation is required.

  2.   PC literate; proficiency in MS Office, Excel, ADP Payexpert.  Knowledge of ADP HRB a plus.

  3.   Team oriented and ability to work independently.

  4.   Strong organizational skills and excellent follow-up required.

  5.   Solid analytical and technical skills with superior aptitude for figures required.

  6.   Knowledgeable in standard office equipment, i.e. fax machine, calculator, etc.

  7.  Minimum three years experience administering payroll function.  Will consider five years      

       accounting-related experience in a service environment.  Prefer two-year degree (Associates) in

       a business related capacity.

  8.  For the respect of our customers and staff, professional dress, hygiene and appearance is expected

  9.  All bank positions require maintaining personal fiscal responsibility.

10.  Flexibility in work schedule.  Due to deadlines working later hours and holidays maybe necessary.

11.  Critical member of team.  Must be reliable, dependable, and maintain a high degree of flexibility.

12.  Extreme confidentiality is important to ensure employee personal and private data is secure.

13.  Must be able to maneuver stairs in the event of an emergency.

 

Internal and External Contacts:

Frequent contact with all levels of Bank personnel.  Regular contact with vendors used to process payroll.
